Fast Oscillator Settings
The Fast Oscillator in the Momentum Concepts Indicator offers customizable settings that enable traders to tailor its behavior to specific trading strategies and market conditions. Here’s a breakdown of the key settings:
Fast Oscillator Type: Choose between multiple oscillator types, such as Price Volume Swings, Price Volume Waves, Alpha Wave, and Dragon RSI. Each type has a unique approach to analyzing price-volume relationships, allowing users to select an oscillator that best fits their trading style.
Source: Define the data source for the Fast Oscillator calculations (e.g., close, open, high, low). This choice impacts the oscillator’s behavior, with “close” being typical for end-of-period values, while other choices may align the oscillator with intraday momentum.
Trend Identification Method: Select how the oscillator will detect trend direction shifts. Options include Relative to Previous Value, Heiken Ashi, and various moving averages (SMA, EMA, HMA, WMA). Each method provides a different level of sensitivity to trend changes, enabling either rapid adjustments or smoother, less frequent shifts.
Trend Identification MA Length: Define the length for the selected moving average if a moving average-based trend identification method is used. Higher values make the oscillator less sensitive to minor fluctuations, ideal for long-term trends, while lower values increase responsiveness, suitable for short-term trades.
Reversal Zones Outer and Inner Values: Set the levels for overbought and oversold zones. The Outer Value is further from the zero line, while the Inner Value is closer. These values control when the Fast Oscillator indicates potential reversal areas, with higher values reducing signal frequency and lower values making signals more frequent.
Reversal Zones Dynamic Color Type: Select between Reversal Probability and Trend Confluence. Reversal Probability adjusts zone color based on overbought/oversold conditions, while Trend Confluence colors zones based on broader trend alignment.
Enable Diminishing Momentum Warning: When enabled, a warning symbol (●) appears when momentum starts to weaken within the reversal zones. This setting can be used as a take-profit alert or a pre-reversal signal, warning that a trend might be near exhaustion.
Enable Reversal Signals Warning: This setting adds additional symbols (▲ and ▼) to indicate potential reversal points. The Fast Oscillator shows these symbols within the overbought and oversold zones when it detects overextended conditions, offering traders visual cues for mean-reversion opportunities.
Wait for Bar Close to Print Signals: This option waits for a bar to close before confirming reversal or momentum warnings, reducing intrabar repainting. Enabling this setting ensures that alerts only appear after a confirmed price movement, which can help reduce premature signals.
Divergence Detection Settings: Configure the Fast Oscillator’s divergence detection with these settings:
Divergence Pivot Detection Length: Controls the length used to detect pivots, with higher values providing less sensitivity. Adjusting this setting changes how quickly divergences are spotted.
Divergence Pivot Confirmation Length: Specifies how long the Fast Oscillator waits to confirm divergence signals. A higher length reduces the frequency of signals but improves accuracy by filtering out false moves.
These settings make the Fast Oscillator highly customizable, allowing traders to fine-tune the component to align with different strategies, trading styles, and market conditions. By adjusting its type, sensitivity, trend detection method, and reversal thresholds, users can set up the oscillator to provide precise insights into momentum shifts and reversal opportunities.
